IUCN Restoration Barometer

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a membership Union that harnesses the experience, resources and reach of its more than 1,400 Member organisations and the input of more than 18,000 experts. The IUCN Restoration Barometer is THE leading restoration barometer across the globe, with a vision to increase the scale, impact and effectiveness of global restoration projects, leading to healthier ecosystems and communities. The tool tracks global restoration progress against commitments across all terrestrial ecosystem types, providing accurate data on benefits to biodiversity, climate and jobs.

The challenge

The barometer was sitting in an increasingly competitive space with recently launched tools jostling for attention. At the same time the tool needed to target new non-state audiences and thus needed a brand fit for purpose. This is where we came in. We redesigned the brand from inside out giving the tool a contemporary aesthetic that felt both trustworthy, inspirational and intelligent. Natural rhythms and forms were the central brand platform which combined with stunning imagery and a data driven look and feel gave the tool a brand that matches it’s global reputation.

I was really impressed with how the team quickly understood our mission and translated it into an incredibly attractive visual identity. They were responsive to feedback and put so much thought into the little details.

Their excellent work prompted us to contract them for several associated projects. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a design agency.
